About This Item

Nurnberg, Willmy-Verlag, n.d. (1942-1945).. 8°, original beige printed self-cover, stapled (fragile, slightly defective at spine and rear cover. Browned. Overall in good condition. [3]-72 pp., (1 l.). *** The work originally appeared in 1942; this edition bears no date. The author discusses why the state needs so much money, discusses finances during and after World War I, and argues that inflation cannot happen under National Socialism. Fritz Reinhardt (1895-1969) joined the Nazi Party in 1924 or 1926, and quickly rose through the ranks due to his knowledge of economics and taxation, and his public speaking ability. By 1930 he was a member of the Reichstag, and by 1933 on Rudolf Hess's staff. Reinhardt was in charge of taxation and customs. As state secretary in the German Finance Ministry during the Third Reich, he approved many measures such as the confiscation of gold from dispossessed and murdered Jews. After being captured by the Allies in 1945, Reinhardt was convicted as a Hauptschuldiger and served four years in prison. ***
