Wolf Helmhardt von Hohberg was a 17th-century Austrian author best-known for his book 'Georgica Curiosa'. This book proved to be one of the most prolific agricultural encyclopedias of the 17th-century. When Hohberg began work on 'Georgica Curiosa', there seemed to be a need for a more thorough 'household' reference for families. It covered a wide variety of topics including:
· home gardening
o managing mills
o registering farmland
o growing fruits and making wine
· social and cultural expectations
o quarrels and public fights
o engaging with gypsies
· household behavior
o prayer, conduct in God's eyes
o raising children
o how to treat servants, drunkards, unhealthy persons, suspicious people
