About This Item

Atlanta, Georgia: The Franklin Printing and Publishing Co., 1893. [1893] FIRST EDITION HARDCOVER, green binding, gold lettering, decorative endpapers, marbled edges, 495 pages. THIS IS NOT A FACSIMILE OR BOOK-ON-DEMAND, OR PAPERBACK, OR A MORE RECENT REPRINT. THIS IS THE 1893 EDITION HARDCOVER. Condition of binding: Age toning: discoloration spots; shelving wear; some light abrasion; both hinges cracked. Rear free endpaper and one blank leaf separated, but laid in. Preliminaries, text block: Early gift inscription on title page, some creases to pages and periodic foxing. Pencil underlines in the Introduction section. Overall, Good condition (mostly because of binding). Text is mostly clear, clean, and readable (better than expected for a 19th-century book). The previous owner of the book said it was her grandfather’s book, stored for years in a trunk. This scarce first edition covers the history of the State of Georgia, with chapters on the early American Indian residents, the Colonial Period, the Revolutionary Period, a Sovereign State, War Between the States, Reconstruction Period, and Rebuilding the State. All solid history of the state some called “The Empire State of the South.” Highly collectible. Vintage. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good..

About R. Siedlecki Vintage Books

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
