A tale of boyhood woven from memory and fancy,'' based largely on the author's own years growing up in Wren, GA. Orig. published by World in 1943, this is the first Forum Books Edition, First Printing, from June 1944 (First, thus). Hardcover small 8vo has deep blue cloth-covered boards lettered & stamped in orange to front & spine. Condition is VG+: very clean, binding strong & straight, hinges intact, pages creamy white & completely unmarked, with mild tanning, darker to edges, with a sprinkling of foxing to fore edge. Modest rubbing to extremities, bumping to both corners & ends of spine. The unclipped DJ is Fair, missing a large chunk out of head of spine & into front title, rubbing & creasing & chipping all over, yet the enchanting cover image designed by Edgard Cirlin is largely intact; now protected in new clear mylar cover.
