About This Item

New York: Atria Books, 2003. First edition. First printing [stated]. Hardcover. Very good condition/very good. X, 389 pages, [1] p. Illustrations. Explanation of Sources. Bibliography. Index. Slight wear and soiling to dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by the author. A portrait of the political and social life of Georgetown, comprised of such formidable individuals as Katharine Graham, Lorraine Cooper, and Sally Quinn, cites their behind-the-scenes political power while offering insight into Washington life from the latter days of the Truman administration. The book looks at the lives of Katharine Graham (the wife of Philip Graham), Evangeline Bruce (the wife of David Bruce), Lorraine Cooper (the wife of John S. Cooper), Pamela Harriman (the wife of Averell Harriman) and Sally Quinn (the wife of Ben Bradlee). The book included an interview with CIA official, Cord Meyer in February 2001, about the death of his wife, Mary Pinchot Meyer. When Heymann asked Meyer who was responsible, Meyer replied, "The same sons of bitches that killed John F. Kennedy."
