London: A & C Black, 1907. Book. Illus. by 50 Morland Color Plates with Labeled Tissue Guards. Very Good. Decorative Cloth. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Handsome, very good plus light blue decorated cloth with a design of vines and trees in light green/olive on the front and spine. Very slight wear at the corners and spine ends. Very clean and tight inside, with all 50 plates present with their captioned tissue guards. . Pages xix, 290, index. plus only 2 pages of A & C Black ads, which confirms it is the true first edition (A second printing in 1912 still lists 1907 as the publication date, but has pages of book ads published after 1907). Morland was a painter who "developed early a taste for dissipation" (DNB) , but that results in subject matter of common folk and their lives that make his work more interesting for his time (1763 to 1804).
