About This Item

London : William Collins, Sons & Co. [1872]. First edition. An attractive and unusual Victorian school text, with a folding coloured map of the county, woodcut illustrations and population statistics drawn from the 1871 Census. The "New Code" referred to would appear to be the New Education Code of 1871. In the "Collins County Geographies" series. Foolscap 8vo (17cm). 32pp. Folding coloured map. Original wrappers; a little worn and slightly dusty, but a very good example of a scarce, fragile and ephemeral production.
