London: Published and sold by all the Booksellers, and by Thomas Wilson and Robert Spence, Printers, 1799. Twentieth Edition.. 12mo. in sixes. 143pp. Full tree calf, spine ruled in gilt and titled in gilt on a red panel. Folding frontispiece map (a double globe), two further maps, and a folding plate of the Positions of the Sphere. Ownership signature on the inner front cover dated 1799, old pencil notes on the verso of the title and a rear blank, discoloration of end papers, mild cracking of hinges, a sound and very good copy. A translation of du Fresnoy's 1836 work "Géographie des enfans, ou, Méthode abrégée de la géographie, divisée par leçons..." The first English edition recorded in Worldcat was published in 1837, Printed for Johnson and Newbery (who are also listed as publishers of the Twentieth Edition in 1799); this edition, printed in York by Wilson and Spence, is an uncommon issue. Quite a nice copy.
