SIGNED by Barr in 1993 on the first blank verso: "To You Toni / Enjoyed you and Tim / XOXO Candy Barr / April 8, 93."Candy aka Juanita Slusher (later Phillips), notable for having been one of the first adult film stars, wrote while in prison for charges of marijuana possession, poems reflecting the confusion & faith of a prison inmate, a dichotomous split that would plague Barr until her death in 2005. She's a member of the Hall of Fame at the Exotic World Burlesque Museum, & one of the most appealing of the best of burlesque. Her wild lush dimensions, hip-savvy performances exude sensuality, passion, aggression, & much of that translates to the work, wrapped neatly in the title itself.
