London; Richard Phillips, 1809., 1809. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. Octavo. xxxii, 504 pp, 73 (Appendix), [1], [2] catalogue. Fold-out map frontispiece of Berwickshire, hand-coloured in outline; 2 engraved plates depicting farm yard and cottage plans. Contemporary paper-covered boards with printed paper label to spine; fore- and lower-edge uncut. Binding worn and creased with detached upper board and loss to spine tips. Tidy ink ownership inscription to half-title. Scattered light foxing; leaf edges lightly creased & soiled; later leaves creased. Map in good order; plates lightly foxed. A Fair copy only, but complete. Kerr's classic survey of Berwickshire, covering geography, property. farming implements, enclosure, arable land, meadows, livestock, economy and scope for improvements. Kerr's own farm was at Ayton in the county, so his firsthand observations were well informed.
