About This Item
[New York?, 1894. 16pp. 3" x 6." Disbound, loosening, else Very Good.
General Morgan insists that, though he served in the Union Army during the Civil War, his Southern ancestry and affections have always been "awakened in behalf of the South."
Despite Dr. Cambrell's assertions, he and his colleagues are qualified "to write intelligently in reference to the status of the negroes of the South." Morgan himself had under his command more than 5,000 Negro soldiers. In 1893 he became "corresponding secretary of the American Baptist Home Mission Society...Under his skilful promotion, schools for thousands of negro men and women were established and equipped." DAB.
