Pieter van der Aa (1659 -1733) was a Dutch publisher best known for preparing maps and atlases, though he also printed pirated editions of foreign bestsellers and illustrated volumes. Van de Aa's spectacular production gathers travel accounts of voyages from reputable sources such as De Bry, Hakluyt, Thevenot, and includes the voyages of John Smith, William Keeling; Robert Coverte and William Finch. Although many institutions in the Americas held a copy of the John Smith and three of William Hawkins none held the other two printings.

Condition:

Marbled paper boards worn, some leaves sprung, front inner hinge cracked, corners bumped and rubbed through with some leather missing, heavy shelf wear else a good copy with very good illustrations.
