At the beginning of the text is "line reproduction of the drawing of the scene of the crime, made on the same morning that Darnley was murdered; the only piece of unbiased circumstantial evidence in the case". Red coloured cloth covered boards with blue coloured insert to the backstrip and within that blue insert gilt coloured titles. Dark blue coloured tint to the top text block edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, coloured, with dark blue coloured background with yellow and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. A biography, in novel form, of Mary Queen of Scots and the love of her life Bothwell and the ramifications that had through both their lives.  A little rubbing and wear to the book edges. The cloth of the board has become faded in patches, particularly faded on the edges and to the backstrip. Some foxing to the top book edges and to the endpapers. Foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book. Browning to the pages. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top backstrip edge. There is a 2 inch tear along the front spine gutter edge, to the top left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel, with a horizontal tear across the full width of the backstrip. There is a 1 inch tear to the lower left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel. Heavy browning to the backstrip and to the rear dustwrapper panel. Foxing and staining to the rear dustwrapper panel and to the verse of the dustwrapper.  Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. VIII, 424 pages, . Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
