First edition 1936, very good in green cloth, covers dented, rubbed and water marked to one corner, a few spots and stains to the pages. Ownership inscription of Mary Eyre Wallis. This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis. Stephen Dowling 1936
