New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1935. A Philo Vance mystery, with murder against a background of horse racing. Basis for the 1936 Edwin L. Marin movie starring Edmund Lowe as Philo. Ex-library with a stamp and evidence of a stamp pad removal on the front end paper, no other indications. Lightly bumped and rubbed with a touch of wear at the corners and spine ends. Faint dime-sized drip mark on the lower front board. Hinges solid, binding is cracking at page 46 but still good. Jacket rubbed with edgewear, damp stain to the spine heel only visible internally. Clear internal tape repair at the spine ends and upper rear flap, in new Brodart.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. Ex-Library.
