388 pages with pictorial title, illustrations, figures, plates (some in color) and index. Quarto (10 3/4" x 8") bound in original pictorial wrappers. The origins of the present book lie in the work Julia Berrall did on her History of Flower Arrangement, for she realized that she could not discuss historical arrangements without detailed knowledge of which flowers grew in the gardens of which countries and at which periods. As she studied further her interest in creased, and, visiting many of the famous and beautiful gardens described in this book, she found much new material to enrich her earlier researches. Condition: Previous owner's name to front wrapper verso, edge wear, corners bumped else about very good.
