Paris: 1839. Paris: Chez Gavard Editeur des Galeries Historiques de Versailles. [1839-1847?]. Marbled endpapers, gilding on spine. Title page with vignette, 38 plates. Boards 60 x 44cms. This large folio publication records the paintings in the collection of the Spanish banker Alejandro Maria Aguado (1784 - 1842), who was born in Seville and settled in Paris. His collection was divided almost equally between Spanish and Italian schools, and was dominated by religious subjects. After Aguado's death, his collection was sold at auction, and a proportion of it was bought by the French state. Text in French.
