Hardback, 1944, first edition, illustrated, published by Frederick Warne and Co. Ltd., London, 256 pages.
Octavo/8vo, measures around 7 3/8" by 5 1/4" by 1". Pictorial dust jacket, which is price-clipped, displays some marking, scuffing, a little staining at rear and a number of tears with a little chipping and some tape repairs to inside of jacket. Jacket is also stuck to book at rear board/pastedown. Orange cloth binding, black lettering and detail to front board and spine. A little marking and scuffing to binding, with some discolouration and staining but colouring mostly vivid. Signs of shelf-wear, rubbing at edges. Book has forward tilt. Flexible boards. A little slackness to binding but book contents quite firm. Page edges a little marked and slightly scuffed, upper edges mildly foxed but quite clean. A little tearing to a couple of lower page edges. A little foxing and staining to pastedowns and endpapers. Page surfaces generally clean, the odd mark but no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information
