London: Longmans Green and Co.ltd Beautifully illustrated book telling the adventures of three bold babes, not dated but inscription on inside front board dated 1910 believe the book to be a little earlier than this. Contains 48 pages,every other page has a full page colour illustration with continuing story text beneath, other pages have smaller b/w illustrations, all pages in overall bright clean condition just the very occasional small mark.small losses to bottom blank corners of a couple of pages. Decorative endpapers are clean but the front rendpaper seems to have been repaired at front inner hinge leaving alittle brown glue residue along the hinge, obviously done a while ago,binding is sound but has a little movement. NO dustwrapper as issued, edges and corners of boards are worn, boards are marked. Though not perfect still a reasonable example of this book. SEE IMAGES. DETAILED IMAGES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST. EARLY REPRINT circa 1910, inscribed 1914, oblong 4to, 205 x 265, 8 x 10½ inches, cloth backed grey boards, coloured illustration to upper cover, lettered red, spine plain, grey endpapers, pages folded Japan style. 24 delightful colour plates each facing a few lines of text. Corners and board edges slightly worn, some light scratching and a few tiny grazed patches along edges of boards, front inner paper hinge partly cracked, staples very slightly rusty, binding sound. Neat inscription on verso front endpaper, occasional slight faint foxing, otherwise clean, 1 japan fold opened. A very good copy. First published undated in 1903 with imprint London, Glasgow and Dublin. Blackie dropped Dublin from the imprint after 1910. The first edition was in the same format except that the title was printed on the spine and the little girl on the upper cover had a red coat and hat. This Irish illustrator was a successful sculptress specialising in studies of children.…

Hardback oblong quarto, very good condition, red cloth pictorial cover (rebacked, minimally flecked), full-page colour drawings, french-fold pages (fore-edge uncut, blank pages in between), rear page torn & repaired, minor foxing & marks edges, minor edgewear. 104 pp. First edition. A scarce early Blackie & Son children's picture story. Kitty and Hal didn't mean to be late for school, but so many distractions happened on the way. Delightful colour woodcut drawings, with text on the facing page. Praeger was an Irish illustrator and sculptor. (This is the scarce printing of the first edition possessing a red cloth cover: most known copies have a tan cover. Professionably repaired.).
