Handsome, antique copy of "Furniture of the Olden Time" by Frances Clary Morse. 1902 1st edition; The Macmillan Company; New York. The book is profusely illustrated with 295 photographs of furniture. Gilt top page edges. Illustrated end papers in color. On the title page is an excerpt from Henry David Thoreau's "Autumn." The contents are as follows: Introduction; Chests, Chests of Drawers, Dressing-Tables; Bureaus and Washstands; Bedsteads; Cupboards and Sideboards; Desks; Chairs; Settles, Settees, and Sofas; Tables; Musical Instruments; Fires and Lights; Clocks; Looking-Glasses; Index of Owners of Furniture Illustrated; Index.
Condition:
Some light soiling to the covers; tiny cloth tears to 3 of the cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Bright gilt top page edges. The text pages are lightly age-toned and clean with no notable issues found. The rear end paper has a small pea-sized dark stain spot. An old name is written in pencil at the top of the front end papers. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
