Blue covers with gilt lettering and decoration and with bevelled edges are lightly rubbed at corners. Splits in paper covering internal hinges and some plates are detached (see below). There is no map present. There is a previous owner's name on the front end-paper and a date of 1885 and an ink stamp of the same name on the following blank leaf. Pages and plates are clean. Text is framed in red, decorated chapter capitals. Typographaeo Windermeriensi. Illustrations (photographs) are both of the Abbey itself and also of prints, probably engravings.
