Folklore began as early as mankind, but really was not named as such until 1846 found this easier to say than popular antiquities. Folklore exists best in primitive unlettered society where people remember it and transmit it to others. Folklore is really the generic term to designate the customs, beliefs, traditions, tales, magical practices, and songs of a homogeneous unsophisticated people. The problem with folklore is that the wording and meaning can change with the presenter and what he remembers from past tellings, thus a written account is superior and the basis of this book. A clean very presentable copy.
