Authoritatively written by Wesley R. Hurt, Director of the W. H. Over Museum and Associate Professor Of Anthropology at the University of South Dakota, and William E. Lass, historian at the University of Wisconsin. Illustrated with 100 photographs taken from the Morrow Collection at the W. H. Over Museum, which include a sizable number of uncommon Indian portraits. Four-page bibliography at the back.
