About This Item

Boston: Typographical Laboratory, 1932. 4to size brown hardcover boards with tan cloth spine and gilt titles on cover; only nine numbered pages to this unique slim volume. The bottom of the pages (not the outside edge) are deckled. Different size engravings on glossy stock are laid in like photographs in an album. There are also black and white decorations and decorated capital letters in red. This unique volume is based on a 1930 visit by the author to Frederic W Goudy and his wife, at their home, called Deepdene, in the Catskills. Goudy (1865 - 1947) was an American type designer. His typefaces include the eponymous Goudy, Deepdene, Kennerly and Copperplate Gothic. Goudy was the designer of more than 100 metal typefaces. This volume is set in Kennerly. Ex-library with only a Dewey marking on spine. Worn corners and head and heel of spine; and two inch tear to bottom of spine with a broken bottom stitch at pages 8/9. Front pastedown split and tissue cover on frontispiece is torn. Covers are sunned at bottom with some minor chipping to bottom and corners, pages are tanned. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Ex-Library.
