Proceedings and anti-slavery resolutions adopted by the 1848 Ohio Free Territory Convention of the newly formed "Free Soil" Party. The party met in Columbus to encourage attendance at a national Free Soil convention in Buffalo and to demand "No more Slave States and No Slave Territory." (p6)
The convention resolved to approve Congressman David Wilmot's "opposition to the demands of the Slave Power" (his "Wilmot Proviso") and commended opposition to the nomination of slaveholder Zachary Taylor as Democratic candidate for president. The pamphlet includes two convention addresses: To the People of Ohio and the People of the United States.
