About This Item
Cambridge, MA Massachusetts Institute of Technology: M.I.T. Press, 1970. Hardcover First Ed, unstated. Near Fine in Very Good DJ: Book shows only minute indications of use: former bookseller's price sticker neatly at the upper corner of the front free endpaper; binding shows the slightest lean, while remaining perfectly secure; else flawless; text clean. DJ shows light wear to extremities; mild rubbing and faint but pervasive soiling; price has been clipped; mylar-protected. No longer 'As New', but remains close to it. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 221pp. Lavender cloth over boards with silver titles at the backstrip. First Ed, unstated. Hardback with DJ. Kakar's monograph on Frederick Taylor is, like Erikson's work with Luther and Ghandi, a wonderful expose of the sexual dysfunctions that have made important inroads into the way we see ourselves. The effects of Taylor's groundbreaking work with 'scientific' management can still be felt today as companies, including those providing healthcare, insist on viewing people as commodities that must be controlled in the interests of financial health. Reading between the lines of Kakar's book one is struck by the sexual dysfunction of Taylor and how this was introduced into modern business practices.
