About This Item
New York: Rinehart & Company, 1950. Hardcover. Edited by Hervey Allen and Carl Carmer. Illustrations by Richard Bennett. Red cloth with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 368pp. Illustrations, map. Very good/good plus. Jacket lightly edgeworn, with tiny edge chips at head and tail of spine and large tear archivally mended on verso; inoffensive abrasion on front pastedown and small newsprint review of this title neatly tipped to inner flyleaf. A tight, attractive later printing of this chronicle of the north-south river in British Columbia, Canada, north of the Pacific Northwest - the 42nd contribution to the renowned "Rivers of America" series. Interestingly, front flyleaf bears the early Art Deco-ish custom bookplate of Ralph G. Newman (1912-98), founder of Chicago's noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop.
