Edinburgh: Robert Cadell, Edinburgh; Whittaker, Treacher and Co., London, 1832. Half-Leather. Good/No Jacket. Half leather with marbled boards. 334 pp. With an illustrated half-title. Volume 1 only of 3 volumes in the second series, recounting the life of a sailor and the work involved in manning a large ocean going ship. With accounts of trips in the South Seas, to India, etc., primarily focusing on the journey as opposed to the places. Basil Hall was a noted British naval officer, authoring many books on exploration and travel, drawn from his extensive journals. GOOD condition Leather chipped and torn at the head of the spine. with a 1/4 inch piece almost completely detached. Moderate to heavy scuffing along the extremities, mostly affecting the leather. Minor scuffing and fading to the boards. Interior clean and solid with offsetting to the endpapers.
