About This Item

New York: Schocken Books, 1996. First edition. Hardcover. Fine copy/fine. 8vo. Boards. Pp. iv, 156. Frontispiece photograph. Translated from the German by Carol Brown Janeway. This tells a harrowing story about a child's experiences in the Riga Ghetto, followed by imprisonment in the concentration camps of Majdanek and Auschwitz. However, the story is entirely fictional, for the author was born in Switzerland in 1941 and never left that country in his youth. Nevertheless, this book seems to have found a place in the vast literature of The Holocaust
