About This Item
London: Richard Bentley, 1849. First edition. Two volumes, 8vo. xv, 432; x, 415 pp. Original blue cloth. A bright copy, about fine, scarce in this condition. Walpole visited Rio de Janeiro, Tahiti and the Society Islands, Mexico, California, Hawaii, and Samoa. The 80 pages devoted to his visit to Hawaii are (as Forbes says twice) a lively account, and well-written. Hill 1815; Forbes 1757.
