About This Item

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1928. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Photoplay edition and first edition. Fine in slightly age-toned, near fine dustwrapper. A photoplay edition of the Wylie's *Mother Bernle Learns Her Letters*, about a Bavarian widow whose four sons fight in WWI, one on the American side. The film was produced and directed by John Ford. We can find no publication history for a trade edition of this or other stories by Wylie in book form and suspect this is the true first edition, likely following publication in a periodical.
