London: Faber and Faber, [1940 through 1942].. Four volumes. Stapled stiff printed wrappers. Wrapper to first title a bit darkened toward edges, as often; trace of sunning at spine and edges of fourth title; wrapper of third title faded at edges, a bit scuffed and lightly soiled, with short closed tear at top edge of upper wrapper, otherwise a very good set. First Faber printing of the first title, first separate edition of the second title, and first editions of the latter two titles. The fourth title is in the stapled binding (rather than sewn). EAST COKER first appeared in two forms associated with its publication in THE NEW ENGLISH WEEKLY. GALLUP A36c, A37, A39 and A42. MODERN MOVEMENT 92.
