A fine facsimile,in a newly-designed and elegant binding, of the Golden Cockerel Press' edition of the Four Gospels, generally regarded as the press' finest production and as one of the most successful private press books of the twentieth century. The separate Commentary volume includes (1) John Dreyfus' essay on ‘Eric Gill and the Golden Cockerel Type' (extracted from his book, A Typographical Masterpiece: An account of Eric Gill's collaboration with Robert Gibbings in producing the Golden Cockerel Press edition of The Four Gospels in 1931) and (2) Robert Gibbings' 'Memories of Eric Gill' reproduced from The Book Collector. Copy No. 1258. As new set in virtually as new clamshell box.
