London: Smith, Elder, and Co. , 1861. Original Cloth. A very nice copy of this novel bound in the original heavily embossed green cloth with gilt spine. First edition, first issue, with the title the same on the half-title page and title-page. The 16 page publishers catalog appended to rear is dated November, 1861. [McCutcheon catalog, 438]. Text free from foxing, as is common for this title. Full page engravings retain original tissue guards, which do show moderate foxing. Light rubbing to cloth at headband and corners very lightly bumped. A very good+ copy of this fragile little book. . Hardcover. Very Good+. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
