New York : Barnes & Noble, 1960. Fourth (revised) edition; "Students Edition". Size is octavo (8vo), 8.75"/22cm h. Bound in publisher's dark red cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Matte color pictorial dj. Plain white endpapers. 254 numbered coated pp, plus [2] blank. Author's preface to the 1949 edition; publisher's preface to the 1960 edition; 38 pp introductory essay; postscript; chronological list of plates; several hundred pp of b&w plates from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries, highlighting examples from Europe and the U.S. - from the 1465 page of Cicero's De oratore by Schweynheym and Pannartz, to the Bremer Presse 1924 imprint of Dante. Index. Condition notes: Lovely copy, unmarked, tight and square. Spine ends rolled. Mylar-sheathed Dj shows several small closed tears, some spotting, edgewear. A "cheap" edition circa 1960 - quite nice in comparison to the today's competition. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
