Self Published. Very Good with no dust jacket; A few smudges in text.. N.D.. Hardcover. Circa 1900s. Printed by Martin B. Brown, Company, NY. Rebound in brown cloth with titles stamped in gilt on spine. Frontispiece photo and facsimile signature of the author. Scarce memoir by the longtime traveling shoe salesman, whose career was ended after an accident in Albany, New York, which left him “an incurably crippled and partially blind pauper inmate of the male blind ward at the almshouse on Blackwell’s Island, NY, in distressed want and suffering”. He states that he wrote this book to raise funds for himself and his wife. In it, he relates many aspects of the shoe industry of the late 19th century. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 312 pages .
