Blue binding, decorative designs in gilt and gilt lettering, frontispiece photo of Mark Twain with tissue overlay, vintage illustrations/photos throughout along with vintage illustrated/photo plates, 712 pages. Condition of binding: some light shelf/handling wear. Tears to front endpapers (at hinge), with short piece of cello tape used to prevent further tearing. Rear endpaper at hinge has minor creases, short tear. A few creases, short tears to extremities of preliminaries. Foot of fore-edge has what appears to be an old liquid stain (that continues to the right side of the bottom edge), but it could simply be a partial discoloration of edges. Short marginal tear to pages' 115/116. Text is clear, very readable; illustrations/photos are vivid. Overall: Very Good. A nice first edition, first state of a classic Mark Twain work. Scarce.
