FIRST EDITION (1937) ( Preface dated 1937 and publisher's adverts at end dated 1937), approximately 214 x 140 mm, 8½ x 5¾ inches, coloured frontispiece, 6 maps, 5 folding, 25 photographic plates with several images per plate, pages: xii, 1-316 plus 40 pages of publisher's adverts dated Spring 1937, original publisher's black cloth, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, central gilt vignette of fighter plane on upper cover, yellow top edges. Covers slightly rubbed, with slight loss of gilt to lettering on spine, some pale splash marks to covers, corners lightly bumped, light rippling to a few plates, some light foxing to edges, a few tiny nicks to fore-edges, otherwise a very good copy, lacking dustwrapper.
