The bottom 1/4 of the spine is gone, and the top 1" of the spine is loose and flapping. The gilt title and 2 images on the spine are present and in good condition. Size: 12mo - over 6 3/4" - 7 3/4" tall. 182 pp. Scattered foxing throughout. Heavy shelfwear to the cover. Bumped and rubbed. Corners are rounded. Quantity Available: 1. Synopsis
Flower fables was the first work published by Louisa May Alcott and appeared on December 4, 1849. The book was a compilation of fanciful stories first written seven years earlier for Ellen Emerson. The book was published in an edition of 1600 and apparently sold well although Alcott received only about $35 from the Boston publisher, George Briggs.
