Wilson's history of the Boer War written very soon after the events had taken place. First editions of the first two volumes of H. W. Wilson's history of the Boer War, told directly after its occurrence with illustrations. Part of a four volume set.Herbert Wrigley Wilson was a British journalist and naval historian. As both a journalist and historian, Wilson saw the importance of documentation of historical events as they were happening. This included his work on the First World War The Great War which ran for 13 volumes between 1914 and 1919.Includes illustrations to nearly every page, based from photographs and authentic sketches taken in South Africa.Includes two folding maps to the rear endpapers of both volumes.Gold engraved lettering to the spines.No dust wrappers present. In original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, smart. Some bumping to the head and tail of the spines and the extremities. For Vol II this has resulted in significant wear to the tail of the spine and the boards are slightly marked. For Vol I there is some wear to the boards, particularly the front board, and the spine. The hinges for both are starting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. There is occasional spotting. The map of Vol I has a small year and the map of Vol II has two tears. Good
