This 1635 edition of the works of Claudian was published in Paris featuring the edits and notes of Italian scholar G. Gregorio Giraldi.

Maastricht: [A.A.M. Stols] , 1933. Print. Very Good. No Binding. 2nd Edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Suite of 11 wood engravings of female nudes for the second edition of Dolores by J.C. Swinburne, printed on Antique Japanese. The engravings for the first edition were reworked as silhouettes in the second edition. Privately printed by Stols for the collector Baron Emile van der Borch van Verwolde. Light foxing to margins, One sheet with creasing and one sheet with a small closed tear to lower edge. The second edition of Dolores was limited to 40 copies. 9 engravings measure 10 x 5 cm., the head- and tailpieces measure 5 x 5 cm. Sheets are 25 x 16 cm. The tailpiece of a female nude with three ravens refers to the coat-of-arms of Emile, Baron van der Borch van Verwolde. Very rare. .

Book with light toning to page margins, else in fine condition; dust jacket with faint toning to spine/folds and a trace of light shallow creasing, else fine. A superb copy.

This is one of Bukowski's best collections of poetry, written shortly after he'd "made it" with musings about his new found comfortable life in San Pedro, as well as material concerning his earlier, more troubled times in East Hollywood, Los Angeles. Some wonderfully witty writing in here with poems about mortgages and tax accountants, as well as the standard fare of race tracks, classical music, and bad sex. One of the best Bukowski poetry books from his mid-period.

"Easter" was previously published in Harper's magazine, and "In Wicklow" and "Voices" previously appeared in The New Yorker. Toned parchment substitute wove paper printed damp on a Washington handpress in black and light brown. Covers are glued boards covered with matching Ingres paper screenprinted in black and yellow with a leaf-and-berry pattern.
