With index and appendices, the suppressed fourth of which is noted solely with the line, "It has been found necessary to omit this Appendix." A landmark in the literature of European exploration. 8'' x 5''. Early half brown calf with brown cloth boards and gilt-stamped spine. Red morocco spine label. All edges marbled. Illustrated with three color plates and two maps. 648 pages. Previous owner's name in pen on front free endpaper. Light edgewear and bumping.
