About This Item
New York: William C. Bryant & Co., 1871. Green, brother of first Park Commissioner Andrew H. Green. Profusely illustrated with two large folding maps of Manhattan outlined in color; three oval heliotypes on colored paper; five albumen prints; twenty wood engraved plates; four black and white lithographs, including one table & one graph; five tinted or color lithographs; and eighteen plans of parks with color, six folded (including Central Park). With detailed information about the creation of New York's Central Park, as well as many other smaller city parks. Publisher’s cloth; minor spotting; tiny hole in the front joint; nearly fine and notably fresh. Most copies of this book that turn up are defective and often shabby. This copy is remarkable for its completeness and fine condition, perhaps due to, or in spite of its provenance.
