Illustrated card cover with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black-and-white photograph of author to the verso of the front panel. Detective-Superintendent John Chevoit found himself in the year 1829 where he investigated a murder, the stealing of birdseed, fisticuffs in a gaming house and dirty doings at a shooting gallery, before he could go back to his own time. Creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the book edges and panels with foxing also being present. Tanning of the text block edges and pages with foxing to the text block edges. Gift inscription to the free front end page. Some foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book. First softcover edition. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). 269, [1] pages..
