Boston, Massachusetts: Ginn and Company, 1935. 429 pp. Index. Bound in brown cloth with a design of a Viking ship printed on the front board and a smaller design on the spine in grey and black. Frontispiece of Columbus; many black and white illustrations throughout. Tight, sturdy book. Pages predominantly clean, only a few have minor smudges. Several stamps of the Catholic school it belonged to, and the notation "Grade 6" and school name written in ink - a classroom copy rather than a library book. Edges & spine ends show moderate wear with fraying in places, corners bumped. A piece of cloth 3/8 inch x about 3/4 inch missing from the centre of the backstrip, o/w g+. Not a collectible book in this condition, but a very useful and sound reading copy - would be good for at least another generation of homeschooling. Covers history of North and South America and world exploration in general from first inhabitants, Leif Erikson, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus through to Jacques Cartier, Francis Drake, Henry Hudson, and Miles Standish.. Pictorial Cloth. Good-. Illus. by . 5.5 x 8 in. (14cm x 20cm).
