About This Item

New York:: Simon and Schuster, 1983. A clean, square, tight copy. Inner hinges are perfect. The Dust Jacket is bright and shiny, although the color has uniformly sun-faded on the spine and front panel. But only the background color has faded. All jacket lettering, as well as Houseman's photo on the front, are NOT faded. NOT price clipped (19.95). No owner's name or bookplate. Pages are fresh, crisp, and unmarked. Illustrated with 32 pages of photos. Index. The Dust Jacket's front panel has an "Autographed at Hunter's" sticker (which we will be happy to neatly remove, upon request). The binding is the original brown boards, with a black cloth spine lettered in shiny gold. This is third volume in the autobiography of actor and film producer John Houseman (1902 -1988), covering the years from 1955 to 1974. Although Houseman produced more than two dozen films, he is perhaps better remembered for his role as Professor Charles Kingsfield in the 1973 film THE PAPER CHASE. He won both a Golden Globe and Academy Award for his performance and later reprised the role in the TV series of the same name. Baby-boomers will also recall his ubiquitous catchphrase, "They make money the old fashioned way... they earn it" in TV commercials for the brokerage firm, Smith Barney. First printing, with complete number row (10 987654321) on the copyright page. . Signed by Author (signature only).. First Printing of the First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good condition./Very Good DJ (spine fade). 8vo. 559pp..

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
