New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1936. 1st. Cloth. Collectible; Very Good. The 1936 signed/limited, in its red cloth and issued simultaneoulsy with the more common trade edition. #182 OF 350 COPIES SIGNED BY H.B. MARTIN at the limitation. Solid and VG, with still-bright gilt-lettering along the spine. Light spotting at the panels but crisp and firm and very presentable. Thick octavo, 423 pgs. (including wonderful black-and-white photos thruout), top-edge gilt. Also includes a VG example of the publisher's original printed slipcase, with light scuffing and wear at the panels and edges. Historic stamp of "The Merion Cricket Club" at the front free endpaper, the rear pastedown and at the foot of several of the pages of text. An interesting association: the club, located in Haverford, PA and founded in 1865, serviced the wealthy along Philadelphia's legendary Mainline and is located just up the road from one of the hallowed spots in American golf, The Merion Golf Club (which has hosted 6 U.S. Opens) in Ardmore. Signed by Author.
