Black cloth boards with bright red lettering on backstrip, completely clean with light wear to spine head and heel, trace wear to some corner tips. Sewn binding tight, solid and square. Internals faintly toned, else Fine. Unclipped jacket is edgeworn. This is a detailed account of day-by-day combat during two campaigns fought in June and October of 1966--Operation Nathan Hale and Operation Thayer-Irving. Together these campaigns may characterize the Vietnam War in microcosm. General Marshall depicts war as it is happening--the natural chaos of battle, the frequently mistaken notions of the enemy's whereabouts and intentions, the aloneness felt by a unit or a green soldier. 1971, The Dial Press.
