Constable, London, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. XII, 372 pp., foreword by author, list of illustrations, acknowledgements, appendix and index. Illustrated endpapers, with the Montgomery family coat of arms, on a blue background. Black and white photographic frontispiece, showing Field- Marshal Montgomery taken in 1967. The text is illustrated with contemporary black and white photographs. Red speckled boards with gilt titles to the backstrip with light blue coloured tint to the top text edge. Minor rubbing to the edges. Photographic dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with maroon coloured background and black and white writing on front panel and spine. Minor rubbing to the dust wrapper corners, but the major damage is sun fading to the spine. Brian Montgomery has written a story about his older brother Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery "..a fascinating account of influences of hereditary and environment that contributed to making him what he became, together with a wealth of unknown details of his career.". – From the front fold over panel blurb.
