About This Item
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK: Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012. Hardcover. New/new. This volume contains a collection of papers arise from a 2010 conference where participants, from both expatriate and Malaysian academia. shared their views on a wide range of writings, both private and published, of expatriate traders and colonial officials while living in the Malay World of the 18th to 20th centuries. The varied analyses not only give important insights into how the writers saw themselves, but also into 'native life' that they sought to understand and often explain to their compatriots at home through fiction and faction (dramatised facts.) 243 pages with an index.
